Chaplain's Conversations: Professor Sir Ian Boyd This is a free ticketed event.

The second of this year's series of events to discover more about the people of the University of St Andrews will be with Professor Sir Ian Boyd, School of Biology. In conversation with the Chaplain, Donald MacEwan, we will explore with Professor Boyd his career, what inspires him in his research and his thoughts about the future of education.

Professor Sir Ian Boyd is Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), advising on climate, the future of the seas and a range of scientific matters.

He remains a Professor in the University's School of Biology, having established the Scottish Oceans Institute (SOI) as a multidisciplinary research centre at St Andrews, and is a former Director of the NERC Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU). His research specialty is the behavioural dynamics of marine predators, the management of marine ecosystems, and ecological economics. His knighthood was announced in the Queen's Birthday Honours this year.
