Caring for Feminist Archives in Contemporary Art and Curating
This workshop marks the first meeting of the project Caring for Feminist Archives in Contemporary Art and Curating which will be developed collaboratively over 2026-7 by colleagues at Charles University, Prague, and the University of St Andrews. Together, we seek to create a framework for researchers to share and collaboratively develop expertise on feminist contemporary art and curatorial practices, focusing on the archiving of feminist artwork and its politics of care and solidarity. Uniting research interests in socially engaged art practice and feminist artmaking, curating, and theories of care, it will enhance current curatorial projects, research and teaching at both institutions and anchor our exchanges in real-time curatorial scenarios. Together, these elements will enable the establishment of a feminist art and curating research framework across our two institutions which we will then build on in the future, directly contributing to wider interdisciplinary research into how to archive and remember feminist practice without marginalising its political commitments.
This first meeting will focus on information-sharing and presentations from members of the project team, combined with group discussion and exchange. Everyone with an interest in feminist curating and archiving is very warmly welcome to attend part or all of the session. please book a ticket or email Catherine ([email protected]) to confirm your participation.
