POSTPONED -- Annual Black History Lecture: The Color Black: Enslavement and Erasure in Iran Dr Beeta Baghoolizadeh, Columbia University, New York

The Lecture has been postponed due to personal circumstances. We are endeavouring to reschedule the event at a later date.

Dr Beeta Baghoolizadeh of Columbia University, New York, will draw from her book The Color Black for the Annual Lecture on Black History. The book presents the history of enslavement and abolition through the lens of race in Iran during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Through weaving together photographs, architectural structures and contractual texts, Baghoolizadeh unearths an intentionally hidden history of Blackness and slavery in modern Iran.
